The Honorable Dawn McCoy, MPP is a nationally-recognized speaker, leadership strategist, and published author. She is sought after to speak with corporate, government and academic audiences nationwide for speeches about effective leadership, community engagement, and personal growth.

Dawn founded Flourish Leadership Group, LLC to provide strategic services and professional development. From an eager Capitol Hill internship to an elected Sacramento City Unified School Board position and a 20-year career as a non-profit executive, Dawn’s tenacity has empowered and inspired many to realize their potential and creative possibilities.

Given her passion for advocacy, she is an award-winning community leader and has been appointed to several boards. In 2015, Dawn was awarded the Elizabeth Allen Award for volunteerism and community service. She was a finalist for the 2014 Children’s Hospital of Richmond, at VCU Family Engagement Award. She completed the nationally-recognized Partners in Policymaking program and organizes community gatherings for these families. Dawn finds joy serving those with disabilities and rare diseases.

Dawn was born in Philadelphia and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Howard University and a master’s degree in public policy (MPP) from Georgetown University where she was a Bryce Harlow Scholar. She participated in Leadership America and she is a certified practitioner with the Connective Leadership Institute in Pasadena, California.
