Founded in 2005, Mother Geneva Johnson Academy has served as a refuge for at-risk youth, among whom have been raped, molested and abused, and have been considered “failures” to society. Thanks to a program put in place by our CEO, Bishop Dwayne Johnson, who believes that every child is a star, we have turned all of our students from society’s failures to society’s successes. This special program is built on the foundation of holistically catering to each student. We address issues of the mind, body, and spirit; catering to each child’s specific needs. What makes our program successful is the emphasis of teaching students music and entrepreneurial skills that will prepare them for the evolving 21st century. So far, we have a 100% graduation rate, and at least 98% of our students graduate with college credits (15-24) and go on to attend major universities. However, our work does not end after graduation. We serve as a resource for our graduates who may need extra assistance in transitioning into their secondary education. We take pride in our alumni’s dedication and commitment to returning back to MGJA to help other students who have experienced some of the same hardships they have.
