An Artsy Soul In A Media World
Christie Taylor was born in Washington D.C., and in the early 1970’s moved with family to West Tennessee. Her early years fostered in her a strong affinity for music performance and radio. Her love of “all things artsy” led to her pursuit of a Communication Degree with concentration in Radio, TV, and Film; and later graduated with a Bachelor in Drama TV and Film Performance from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her radio career can be traced to her hosting an evening show on KUTA, the university’s radio station. Throughout the years, Christie has worked for radio stations from Detroit to Memphis to Birmingham to St. Louis. Whether serving as a radio personality, a radio host for a monthly entertainment show; or hosting a public affairs show, Christie, has earned the credit of being an award winning radio personality.
A media personality with a knack for conversational interviews, Christie has had the joy of interviewing celebrities and community influencers on radio, TV, and podcast — from world-renowned Jazz saxophonist, Kirk Whalum to author and speaker, Stedman Graham. One notable television interview was the C-Span Interview with Sana Butler, author of “Sugar of the Crop: My Journey to Find the Children of Slaves.” With over twenty years in the game, Christie has been featured on numerous radio commercials including Mercedes Benz; as well as TV and billboard advertising campaigns.
While radio has served as her primary entertainment platform, Christie’s acting credits include stage, television, film, and radio serials; as well as writing and directing credits for stage and film. Beyond radio, Christie executive produced her spoken word CD in 2007, “From My Heart: The Collection of Inspirational Thoughts”, available on digital and streaming platforms; co-wrote the film N-Secure, released theatrically in 2010, and distributed by 20th Century Fox; and launched a seminar company, Living LIFE, designed to motivate attendees to realize their purpose and actualize their dream. Christie’s love of poetry prompted the release of her first book, So(ul) Naked & Deeply Affected: Poetically Speaking under her CBTaylor moniker. Her short screenplay, Smile was recently produced and directed by Macha Rose, a graduate of The New School of New York City.
As a lifelong creative entrepreneur, she runs two consultant services: The Script Polishers focused on script consulting and training; and Christie Taylor Consulting specializing in media and public speaking coaching. Her love of the performing and visual arts are expressed through personal creative projects; as well as showing support for local and regional talent.
During the pivotal year of 2020, she launched The Christie Taylor Show, a weekly television show available now in six Comcast Southeast markets, streams via her YouTube channel, and on leading podcast platforms like Apple, Spotify, and iHeartRadio. Subsequent show offerings include Let’s Go Live! (Instagram), TCTS Special Edition (YouTube/Facebook), and a business centric show, Successful Thinking on Comcast 17. A partnership with TV veteran, Tina Tilton, lead to the creation of The Taylor Tilton Show, a weekly audio podcast, designed to promote The Taylor Tilton Hour.
Christie, a renaissance woman with a heart of service, loves giving back to the community with a focus on children, the arts, and history preservation. Christie has been honored for her community efforts throughout the years, including in 2008 by the Memphis Woman Magazine as one of 50 Women in Memphis Who Make a Difference and featured in various publications. Christie’s personal mission is to Live Life In Full Expression and inspire others to do the same.
